Mike & Molly

I don't know if ya'll have seen this show, but I've been watching it online lately and it's REALLY funny. It's about two larger people that meet at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting and end up falling in love. It's so sweet to watch their relationship progress.

The reason I wanted to post about the show is the thought of the OA meetings they go to. Whenever they show one of the scenes during the "share" time at the OA meeting, it really gets me thinking. Could I be classified as an overeater?? I visited the OA website and read through the questions that you should ask yourself to see if you are in fact an overeater. Based on what they're asking, I would be classified as one...but at the same time, I felt like some of the questions were kinda based on situations. I don't know...I just found it all interesting and it really got me thinking.

If you haven't checked this show out...do it! It's SO good & very funny. I thoroughly enjoy each episode :-)

P.S. I know I haven't posted in about a week...but I got some exciting news last Wednesday. I got promoted to the management team at work...plus a nice raise which is PERFECT right now since I just moved into my own place. Very excited!!!

It's Official!!

I'm on Weight Watchers!! I joined last night & started this morning. For this week, I'm going to play around with everything and eat as I have been these past few weeks and track that and then go from there. I'm doing this in order to see what exactly needs to be changed and which foods I can improve on. I'm very excited & so far it's going well!

Last time I signed up for Weight Watchers, I don't think I was actually committed. I think I told myself I was, but in reality...I wasn't ready to full dedicate myself to this process. This time is so different...I can just feel it. I've spent any free time I've had today looking up some of my favorite foods, playing around with the cheat sheets, looking up recipes, and just reassociating myself with the program.

I have to say...I'm very excited for the premier of "Heavy" tonight on A&E. I'm a HUGE intervention fan and I just know this show is going to be intense!! Are ya'll gonna tune in??

Weigh-In

So, although I weighed-in today just to see how I was doing...I've made the decision to only post it once a month. This way I'm seeing a higher number and will feel more confident in how I'm doing.

I've been REALLY good about working out & eating right. I just hope I can keep it up. Classes have started, so that stress is kinda back again...but now that I'm part-time, it shouldn't be near as bad as it was last semester.

Another episode of I Used To Be Fat is on tonight. If you have not seen this show yet, TUNE IN!! I've found it to be so inspiring to see them lose THAT much weight THAT quickly. I was hoping to watch it AT the gym tonight...but I have a paper to write that's due tomorrow, so it looks like I'll just be doing a home workout tonight. As long as I'm doing something, I feel good. But I can't WAIT to get back to the gym tomorrow. I forgot how much I love working out :-)

Alright...this was my paper break, but I guess I should get back to it. Hope everyone that's in snowy areas is staying safe & warm!! We only got ice, but it was still super dangerous to walk & drive in!!

First Weigh-In of the Year!!

So...today was the first weigh-in of the year. And the FINAL starting over weigh-in of this journey. I'm so ready to get this weight off, and I'm excited to do it. I weighed in at 282.0 today and am ready to get these pounds off!!

All these shows on TV lately have become such an inspiration. I've put them on my iTunes so I can put them on my iTouch and bring them to the gym with me.

The new gym is great. Working out is going great. Eating is going great. I feel like everything is on track right now and my mindset is better than ever.

NOW LET'S SEE SOME RESULTS!!

I Used to be Fat

I don't know if ya'll have heard about this show, but it's a new show that just started on MTV and I'm SUPER interested in it.

It's about high school seniors that lose weight the summer before college begins. They basically have 3 months to lose up to 100 pounds!!

Now...that seems REALLY unhealthy...to lose 100 pounds in 3 months. But I also haven't seen the show yet, so who knows if it's actually just 3 months.

I'm hoping that maybe they'll give some great tips to use in my own workouts & dieting. AHH!! I seriously can't wait to see this show!!

What about ya'll? Will you be tuning in??

xoxo

P.S. I can't wait to take that picture at the top & put it as a proud banner on my blog!! :-)

Snowed In

So...I'm completely snowed in today. Since most people in my apartment complex went home for the holidays, there were no cars here to drive before me and turn the snow to slush. I finally made an attempt to go to Harris Teeter, but it sure did take some time.

Now I'm just relaxing in bed...watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...and enjoying my day. I wasn't able to make it into work with it being a 20-30 minute drive for me, so I'll just have to go back tomorrow. Drive slowly & safely of course!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday & is having a relaxing day today!! I'm excited to start the new year and will definitely be posting some of my goals for 2011 in the upcoming week.

What are some of your goals so far??

On the 6th Day of Christmas...

On the 6th day of Christmas, my partner gave to me some amazing smelling hand sanitizer & a moisturizing body bar!! And this has to be one of the absolute best scents ever!! I'm usually a vanilla kinda girl, but I must admit...I LOVE the smell of coconut--and this one is incredible :-)
So, I've been watching a lot of Friends again lately (I used to watch it ALL the time--have def seen EVERY episode at least 20 times) and I'm remembering what a great thinspiration it is!! I know Courtney Cox had a fat suit on for her flashback scenes, but the weight loss they portrayed for her IS possible...now I just need to remember that. Plus, Jennifer Aniston is SO gorgeous, it's hard to use her body to make me want to work out more.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to get back to my running plan with intervals (I haven't been allowed to run since my car accident...but I feel like I'm finally at a place where I can do it again) and start working on concentrating. Nothing like a brand new week to begin a brand new mindset. Hopefully I see a loss come Wednesday...with the stress of school being gone, things just seem so much more doable.

Tanisha

I don't know if you guys have checked out the new show on Style, Too Fat for Fifteen: Fighting Back. It's based on the special Too Fat for Fifteen where this girl attends a school in North Carolina that focuses on weight loss. She has over I don't even know how much weight to lose and she's only 15...so it's a really intense special which shows her struggles. But she definitely loses the weight and gets healthy again!

But, anyways, the new show that spun off from the special just started this past Monday and I caught the replay of it later that night. I gotta say...it was a really good show. I felt inspired!! It broke my heart to see teenagers at THAT weight. All I kept thinking was, "I was a decent size when I was a teenager. Maybe not thin, but I looked good." and it's hard to think that some teenagers don't have that pleasure. One girl that really caught my attention was Tanisha.
She was easily the largest of the group at 510 pounds at only 17 years old. She was so large that when they took measurements, she was the only one where the tape measure wouldn't even fit around her fully. They said that was the first time that had happened in the four years that this school has been open. That completely just broke my heart. I can't even imagine how she must feel knowing that at 17 she's already reached a size like that.

Of course, the health problems that come from being that heavy are intense. She couldn't walk up the hill that they require students to walk up to get to the cafeteria (although, she mentioned she also has a disease where her knees both turn in--she's had many surgeries to fix it). But she could barely even get down the hill as well. When she went to play basketball, she had to stop after just 30 seconds. Before she started playing, she couldn't even walk across the full court just once. This is where I just completely fell apart. Even though it only took her 30 seconds of standing still and lifting her arms to have to sit down again for a little while, she went back into the game and tried again. And she even made a basket!! I knew...RIGHT in that moment...that if this 510 pound girl can motivate herself to keep going and try...then I can do it too.

Tanisha is one of the most inspirational people I've watched on television. I just have so much respect and care for her that I feel like I personally know her. I just want to give her a big hug and tell her that she can do it. She can lose the weight and become healthy!

If you haven't seen the show, you should definitely try to catch it. It's very powerful, especially for us battling to do the same thing that these kids are doing. There are lots of other teens that they're following on the show with other incredible stories of having to lose crazy amounts of weight at such a young age that are very inspirational as well.

And look out for more posts about Tanisha. I really want to follow her progress on here because she really did inspire me. In the first weigh-in they showed, she had gone down to 487, I believe, after 3 weeks.

If you have Style Network, definitely check out the show!!

I Wanna Know You

Okay...so, as I've mentioned before...I LOVE Miley Cyrus. I can't help it!! Her music is just so upbeat, and little trick...it's SUPER easy to workout to!!

Well, I decided today to post my favorite Hannah Montana song (not Miley Cyrus song...this is a Hannah song. There is a difference. Haha). So...here we go with I Wanna Know You - Hannah Montana with David Archuleta.

Please note, this is not the full version of the song. It's a clip from the episode that it was featured in.

Day Off

I just had the most relaxing day off ever!! Since I've been so exhausted lately, I decided to just spend the day resting in bed. It was GREAT!! Just what I needed to rejuvenate myself.

I spent most of the day watching Nip/Tuck...have ya'll ever seen that show? I love it!! Kelly Carlson (Kimber) is definitely a thinspiration character on the show for me. She has such a great body!! It definitely made me want to work out!!

Just thought I'd give a quick update about my day...now I'm off to gym!! Hope everyone had a wonderful day!!

Award

Somebody sent me an award!! I'm super excited about this because it means people are reading!! So thank you!!

Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
3. Nominate fifteen newly discovered blogs.
4. Let your nominees know about the award.

1) Thank you, Kelly!! I really appreciate this :-) I love knowing that people are actually reading this because it makes me feel like I CAN do this!! Kelly's blog is: Life in the Fat Lane for all of those who haven't read it.
2) Seven things about myself:
  • I am about to start my 5th year (or victory lap, as I like to think of it) at NC State in Raleigh, NC
  • One of my favorite places in the world is Myrtle Beach, SC and I go every year with family & friends
  • GLEE and MILEY CYRUS are my obsession (if you didn't hear about that in my previous post from the weekend...just figured I should state it again)
  • I LOVE horror movies!! There's just something about scaring myself that I really enjoy for some weird reason.
  • I work at Aerosoles and absolutely love it. My co-workers are so much fun to be around & I love the shoes we sell!!
  • My biggest fear is snakes. I have a full on phobia about them & they freak me out just seeing pictures or hearing about them.
  • Phantom of the Opera is my favorite movie--but I LOVE musicals in general. They cheer me up when I'm down!!
3) Well, naming 15 newly discovered blogs is tough...so I'm gonna name the ones that I follow pretty religiously (hehe...thanks for the idea, Kelly!!). So...in no particular order:

Thanks again!!

HUGE

Tonight on ABC Family is it's newest show, HUGE.

It's a show about the lives of seven teens and the staff at a weight-loss camp, as they look beneath the surface to discover their true selves and the truth about each other.

So far, I really like it. It's actually inspired me a bit to keep up with my weight loss. The discussions that the characters have & thoughts that they share with each other are all things I've thought about myself in the past, which brings me to think I can related to this show very well. The characters all seem to be going through what I'm going through and in watching, I find myself wanting to be like them and work my way back to being the thin girl I once was.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely tune in. Whether you're skinny or large, HUGE is a show that we can all relate to in one way or another.
