Workout Wednesday - C25K

(source)

So I'm back at it again & trying to push my way through C25K...and I'm actually having success!!

I started on Monday & was able to push through and do the entire day. Today is going to be Week 1, Day 2 and I'm excited to power through again. I've definitely discovered that if I stay focused and just really push myself when I'm on the running parts...it's not so bad.

My rule for C25K has always been to not move on to the next day until I can fully complete the one before. I don't care if that means doing it twenty times over and over...if it will help to build up my endurance, than that's what it takes.

For days where I'm not working on C25K, I am doing some weight training. I figure switching off weights & cardio will help me to tone up while still dropping weight. Once I'm done with C25K, I'll start shocking my body with different exercises regularly, but for now...I'm determined to get this finished.

WISH ME LUCK!!

C25K - Day 1

So...this did not go as well as I had hoped.

I started out around the lake and after the warm up, was able to do the first three intervals of running. That's when it got hard. I tried really hard to push myself, but my legs just would not let me. So I allowed myself to walk. I walked about 3 miles in an hour and have to admit that I'm proud of it.

I didn't choose the easiest trail. Lake Johnson has quite a few hills and is not an easy trail to just go for a jog on. I'm proud that I at least tried and did at least some of it. I will definitely try again and again until I get it. I just have to allow my lungs to adapt and my legs to know what running feels like. But I'm on my way to becoming a runner!!

I've decided to let this take as much time as it needs to happen. I'm in no rush to become a runner...plus, I'm still carrying a lot of weight on my body, which as ya'll know can make it really difficult.

I do have to say that I kept thinking of my blogging family as I was jogging though. Thinking about how if ya'll can do it, then I can do it too!! It was some great motivation & I know one day when I am able to run the full 3 miles, I'll be thankful that I had ya'lls support the whole way :-)

Countdown to C25K

Okay...so today begins the official countdown to when I will start the C25K program. I made a decision a few weeks ago to do it, but I was waiting until it was warm enough to do outside. It's slowly getting there...but there are days when it's still a bit cold. So...today, I made the decision that I will begin April 1! Spring will have already begun & it will be gorgeous out!!

Additionally...I've been upping my speed on the treadmill at the gym and I think that is helping me to build up my momentum. I'm hoping for the best!!

I've decided to start it outside rather than at the gym because I don't want to be speeding up and slowing down my treadmill every 60-90 seconds. I feel like it'd be better if I can start and stop myself rather then let machine do it for me.

Weigh-in tomorrow!! I've been maintaining all week when I've checked in...but have had NO time for workouts with midterms at school. Getting back to the gym for sure tomorrow & for the rest of this week!!

On the 6th Day of Christmas...

On the 6th day of Christmas, my partner gave to me some amazing smelling hand sanitizer & a moisturizing body bar!! And this has to be one of the absolute best scents ever!! I'm usually a vanilla kinda girl, but I must admit...I LOVE the smell of coconut--and this one is incredible :-)
So, I've been watching a lot of Friends again lately (I used to watch it ALL the time--have def seen EVERY episode at least 20 times) and I'm remembering what a great thinspiration it is!! I know Courtney Cox had a fat suit on for her flashback scenes, but the weight loss they portrayed for her IS possible...now I just need to remember that. Plus, Jennifer Aniston is SO gorgeous, it's hard to use her body to make me want to work out more.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to get back to my running plan with intervals (I haven't been allowed to run since my car accident...but I feel like I'm finally at a place where I can do it again) and start working on concentrating. Nothing like a brand new week to begin a brand new mindset. Hopefully I see a loss come Wednesday...with the stress of school being gone, things just seem so much more doable.
