Temptations

I'm starting to realize that I have yet to figure out how to say no to all my temptations. I'm working to overcome them, but sometimes it becomes too much and I give in. Yes, I'm working out everyday now and it feels GREAT (I'm so sore in the best way possible), but is that enough to overcome the calories that are consumed when I give into my cravings?

I'm trying really hard to plan my meals out & go on those plans. And I honestly can say that I'm doing good at first to overcome the temptations. I just make myself something different and once I'm not hungry, I tend to no longer crave it. However, if the craving comes back, I find myself wanting to give in.

How do ya'll overcome temptations??

I've been trying to deal with this off and on. First of all, I never give in anymore. If you want to lose weight, you have to stop giving in. Second, I keep myself busy. Just watching a movie or cleaning the bathroom. It makes a big difference. I have not cheated once since Halloween night. So, that is through Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years. I want to lose the weight so I know I need to be strong. You can be strong. You control what you put in your mouth. No one forces it in there. You have control over if you lose or if you gain. Just remember that. Also, think how you will feel after you give in to your temptations. Is that small, short lived satisfaction worth it? Just some things to keep in mind.

Good luck!!!

For me, cravings represent that I am eating too many carbs (the wrong carbs). Foods with high fructose corn syrup also stimulate cravings. THIS is why I was not able to stick with any long term diet in the past, because it was too hard for me to plow past my strong cravings. It would always make it feel like I am deprived and even "suffering" by not giving in.

The program the hubs and I are on now (Take Shape for Life - using Medifast meals) greatly reduces my cravings. That motivates me to stay on plan because those strong cravings are just gone! So I can pass up that chocolate cake and not feel deprived. It's the combination of the right balance of healthy fats, protein, and carbs in the food. So I know cravings are directly related to what we are eating.

I don't know if that is helpful, but I do know it can be overcome!! Great job on your work outs girl!! Awesome.

Naaaah, just kidding. I make sure that I don't have any craving foods in the house. I do have lots of fruit and some other 'healthy' snacks that I can take.
In the beginning I eat loads of these, but over time that becomes less, because the cravings subside.
Also, by eating regularly you don't have cravings all that much.
I have breakfast, a snack, I split my lunch, a snack, dinner and maybe another snack. That keeps most cravings at bay.

Then again, you have to find out what works for you.
Good luck!

I try not to keep things that I know tempt me in the house. When they are at work I say NO then walk away or I dont go where I know they are keeping the donuts/cake, etc. If I stay around them too long I begin to rationalize that oh it wont hurt to eat just one. Blah, Blah, Blah.
