Smoothies

After reading a lot of people's blogs, I've realized that a lot of you drink smoothies pretty much daily. I love that idea since I know how filling a smoothie can be for not a ton of calories. I was thinking about incorporating these into my meal plans for lunch everyday.

Here's where you guys come in--does anybody have any suggestions of what kind of smoothies to make or get? Where do I get the materials? Recipes? Anything you can tell me would be helpful. I know I could just search it, but it's nice getting tips from people on here because then I actually know they're valid :-)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!! Can't wait to hear your smoothie tips!!

xoxo

It's so easy to just do some kind of frozen or fresh fruit, flavored or non flavored light yogurt, juice, and ice....

Personally my favorite is: Fresh strawberries, strawberry light yogurt, silk chocolate light soy, and ice... it tastes like chocolate dipped strawberries

My favourite smoothing is affectionately known as the 'green monster' because it incorporates spinach. Now, please PLEASE don't let that throw you off, because I promise you will not taste it!
Ingredients:
- a ripe banana
- 1 cup of soy milk or skim milk
- small 4oz container of yogurt
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 2 good handfuls of fresh spinach

Add a little maple syrup or agave nectar if you like your smoothies more sweet.

Enjoy!

All I do is blend 1/2 cup frozen fruit (whatever you like) with 1/3 frozen banana, and 1/2 cup vanilla Almond milk (or more depending on the consistency desired). Easy peasy. You could also add in some raw greens such as spinach or kale for extra nutrients. Not too much to start, though.

you can use protein or whey powder, a cup of lowfat milk, and your favorite fruits/veggies. I love frozen strawberries, or frozen mixed berries, a banana, and a cup of baby spinach. You really can't taste the spinach once everything is all blended together. You can also use orange juice, frozen peaches, frozen mangoes, or fresh, it really doesn't matter. Experiment!

I make a smoothie everyday. I usually use about half a cup frozen blueberries, a cup of soy milk, a 1/4 block of tofu, and 4 frozen spinach nuggets. Sometimes I add half a banana. It's not the best tasting smoothie, but I do it for the fast nutrition. I enjoy them.

I like to use frozen food because I heard it's better for you. The reason being because the veggies and fruit are picked just at the right time and then frozen to preserve the nutrients.

There are some smoothie recipes on my June 16 blog. Love the quotes.
